Glemmen videregående skole is one of the largest Upper Secondary VET schools in Norway. The school has about 1900 pupils and approximately 300 employees. The pupils are mainly between 16-19 years old, but we also have adult learners. We offer different lines of study; Health and Social care, Food and Beverage, Electronics, Mechanics and Arts and Crafts. In addition, we have the possibility for students to continue to general studies. The county in which Glemmen is situated, is one of the poorest in the country and has one of the highest drop-out rates on the national level.
The school therefore has a focus on preventing dropout, and to motivate the pupils to finish with good results. The unemployment rate in the county is quite high, as the level of education is low. The school has a focus on adapting to 21. Century skills. During the last years we have had a constant focus on how to change methods and didactics to prepare our students for the future working life.
